PERMACULTURE URBAN DESIGN
Transform your backyard into a sustainable food producing oasis.
In urban permaculture garden design, we aim to replicate some of the natural patterns often found in nature. We first observe and gather all necessary information related to your property, such as but not limited to sun angles, wind direction, views, pest pressures, water flow, soil types, and slope. All this information will help us place systems accordingly to gain the most output with the least amount of energy input.
We must also observe the path in which energy flows throughout your property, including ourselves for optimizing energy, flow and efficiency. Every element of your garden (plants, animals, insects, fungi, water, ect ) should serve multiple functions, and each function should be supported by multiple elements. This is referred to as “Stacking Functions” and how we aim to design food forest gardens.
A permaculture garden is a diverse polyculture garden that is sustainable and self replicating. A system in which you can walk away for years and it will continue to thrive. These natural perennial food growing systems take about 5-10 years to mature, so the best time to plant your trees is now.
